Tim Cook\, a 1971 graduate of CASD\, was the first state champion runner from the school. While he championed in the 2 mile race\, he loved the mile race. The event founders believe that a 1 mile race would appeal to runners\, joggers and walkers of all levels. The Cooks were a deeply caring and and kind couple\, and always worked to include and support everyone to be their best\, regardless of ability. Holding the race down McKinley Avenue also brings the participants down the same path where Coach Cook logged so many miles over the years\, literally following in his footsteps and finishing at the school where he dedicated himself to teaching and coaching.\nThe entire community is invited to register for this race in memory of the Cooks\, regardless if you run a 3 minute mile or walk a 30 minute mile.
