SUMMARY:Allison-Antrim Museum Heritage Christmas
DESCRIPTION:The Allison-Antrim Museum cordially invites the public to its Heritage Christmas open house Friday\, December 5th\, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.\, at 365 S Ridge Ave\, Greencastle\, PA 17225. \n\n\n\nMembers of the board of directors will be hosts and hostesses. In the Barn\, Pat Beard and Victoria Beard clarinetists\, and Connie Bishop\, bass clarinetist\, will play a variety of music\, including holiday tunes\, from the Civil-War era to welcome guests. \n\n\n\nStep back in time in the 1860 historic Museum house decorated for the holiday season as it would have been during the Civil War with a Della Robbia fruit arrangement in the transom of the front door. Roping on the banister\, fresh greens\, including cuttings from the 165-year-old boxwood from the premises will decorate the house. A tree decorated with dried fruit\, gilded walnuts\, Marzipan fruit candies\, gingerbread cookies\, antique candle holders\, and Civil War flags will take visitors back to a much simpler time. \n\nBonnie Shockey\, president of the museum\, will be dressed in Civil War period attire\, as the lady of the house\, Martha Irwin\, may have been in 1860. An 1800's\, one-horse\, drawn sleigh\, made in Mercersburg\, will be displayed on the kitchen porch. Experience this historic Civil-War era home after dusk in the low light of the evening.\n\nThe Museum's collection of Greencastle-Antrim's WWII soldiers' collection will be exhibited in the Barn's South Exhibit Bay.\n\nAllison-Antrim Museum is in its 31st year of collecting\, preserving\, and displaying the history of Greencastle and Antrim Township. Allison-Antrim Museum is open regularly Tuesday to Friday 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm\, Saturday 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. For more information about Heritage Christmas open house at the Museum or other inquiries\, please contact the Museum at 717-597-9010\, on Facebook\, or visit www.greencastlemuseum.org.
