DESCRIPTION:Allison-Antrim Museum  will hold its monthly speaker meeting on Thursday\, June 11\, 2026\, in the German Bank Barn beginning at 7 p.m.  The facility is wheelchair accessible.\n\n \n\nHistorian Roger Swartz will present a PowerPoint on John Brown's raid of Harper's Ferry 167 years ago on October 18\, 1859.  How did Brown's men take over Harper's Ferry and the Federal arsenal. Find out how the U.S. Marines\, under the command of Army Col. Robert E. Lee\, subdued the short-lived rebellion and hear about the sensational trial and Brown's last days in Charles Town\, Virginia (now West Virginia).\n\n \n\nRoger Swartz\, Keedysville\, MD\, is owner of R.G. Swartz & Associates\, offering historical services\, workshop offerings\, and historical products to educational institutions and historical organizations. He and his wife reside in Keedysville\, MD.\n\n \n\nSwartz is author of two nationally acclaimed books dealing with the frontier history of Pennsylvania during the American Revolution: Frankstown: Anatomy of an Ambush and The Battle of Fort Freeland\, July 28\, 1779.\n\n \n\nThere is no admission fee for the speaker's meeting\, but donations are greatly appreciated and will be credited toward Allison-Antrim Museum's annual speakers' series.\n\n \n\nParking is on Ridge Avenue or South Allison Street.
