Primary Functions and Responsibilities:
Performs maintenance work in one or more of the building trades; may specialize in a particular craft such as carpentry, plastering, electrical work, heating work, plumbing or similar craft requiring specialized skill; participates in preventive maintenance, in emergency repair and in new construction, repairs installs, services and maintains electrical systems, including cables, power circuits; switches and receptacles, installs water piping; repairs and replaces pipes, valves, drains, basins, lavatories, air conditioning, laundry equipment, kitchen equipment; cleans out drains and obstructions in water and sewage systems; services and repairs varied heating equipment; lays out work and estimates job materials; read and interpret blue prints; maintains equipment in clean and orderly condition; repairs and remodels buildings; frames walls, rafters, and roofs; hangs, tapes, finishes and paints interior sheet rock walls; installs counter tops; hangs doors; paints interior and exterior; Construct forms and pours concrete using a wood float and steel trowel to finish the cement.
• Performs preventative maintenance and repair on all types of mechanical equipment and buildings to ensure proper operations;
• Assures adherence to safety rules and precautions by assigned personnel;
• Position may lead, supervise or instruct lower level staff.
• Position may assist with Maintenance Mechanic I duties.
Education and Experience: Any combination equivalent to graduation of high school/vocational degree and four (4) years experience in one or more of the building trades.
Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and pass drug testing.
