The Chambersburg YMCA is seeking qualified fitness professionals to provide members, as well as guests with a positive and enjoyable workout experience. The Fitness Center Staff position will display outstanding customer service, be friendly, helpful and attentive to those working out in the fitness center areas.
Under the direction of the Fitness Center Director, the Fitness Center Staff’s responsibilities include developing member relationships, conducting fitness orientations, maintaining the cleanliness of the fitness area and the equipment, and assisting in preventative maintenance of equipment. The incumbent accepts, demonstrates and teaches the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

- Welcoming, assisting and interacting with members using the fitness center
- Providing exceptional customer service to all members utilizing the fitness center
- Connecting with members to assist them in achieving their physical fitness goals
- Understanding the basic components of a safe and effective fitness center
- Taking pride in professionalism by reporting on-time with a positive attitude and a passion to encourage others
- Contributing as a member of the Healthy Living team towards improving the lifestyles of our members
- Modeling and promoting YMCA mission and values through appropriate behavior, appearance, words, and actions
Some qualifications of the ideal Fitness Center Staff include:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Previous experience in a health and wellness environment
- Must have good speaking ability and display an outgoing personality, enabling him/her to relate well to members
- Ability to respond to incidents, accidents and emergencies appropriately, calmly and professionally
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $8.00 - $10.00 per hour
