7:30 p.m. - “Abraham Lincoln and the Emancipation Proclamation” - Dan Vermilya
· One of Lincoln’s most important and controversial acts as President was the Emancipation Proclamation. Vermilya will discuss the challenges that faced Lincoln in dealing with slavery and issuing this proclamation that changed the entire course of the Civil War.

à “Lincoln and His Cabinet” - Joe Mieczkowski
· President Lincoln’s cabinet included all of his major political rivals. The fifteen men who served in his Administration provide a fascinating look at the men and the politics of the Civil War.
à “Lincoln’s Bodyguard” - Bob O’Connor
· Security for our presidents was very different in the mid 19th century than today. O’Connor will discuss several people who served as Lincoln’s “bodyguard.” Most notable were Ward Hill Lamon and at the end a policeman, John Parker. Our speaker will tell their stories in this fascinating presentation.

· We will examine the immortal Gettysburg Address by focusing on the tremendous problems and pressures impacting President Lincoln: personal, political, and policy. How the President overcame them, his three purposes, and how he achieved them will be explained.
à “Lincoln Treasures in the National Civil War Museum” - Wayne Motts
· Join Wayne Motts, CEO of the National Civil War Museum as he presents a program highlighting rare historical treasures associated with Lincoln and his presidency in the museum’s collection.
à “The Anomalies and Ironies Surrounding the Assassination” - Bob Allen
· Edwin Booth once, previous to the assassination, pulled Robert Lincoln from in front of a train, possibly saving his life. Edwin Booth voted for Lincoln. Booth’s mother and favorite sister both described the Confederates as “the enemy.” There are a lot of these stories. Listen as Allen covers the subject based on his new article in the Civil War Trust’s Hallowed Ground.
