Penn State Mont Alto invites you to our 2021 Fall Campus Colloquium Series
The Penn State Mont Alto Campus Colloquium (formerly the Faculty Colloquy) resumes in-person talks from 12:20 to 1:10 p.m. on Oct. 14 and Nov. 11 in the Heritage Room in The Mill Café. Talks are open to the public and free of charge.
Please note that masks are required in all campus buildings for all students, employees and campus guests regardless of vaccination status. Guests will be required to follow all COVID-19 health and safety protocols in place at the time of each Colloquy talk.
- Nov. 10 – Shara McCallum, liberal arts professor of English and Penn State Laureate for the 2021-22 academic year.
McCallum, a poet and author of six books, is the first women of color to serve as Penn State Laureate. McCallum’s latest poetry collection, "No Ruined Stone," was published in August 2021 and is a verse sequence based an alternate account of history and Scottish poet Robert Burns’ near-migration to Jamaica to work on a slave plantation. During her visit, McCallum will share her poems and showcase the importance of poetry as way of capturing and shaping history.
