With creativity and passion, you will prepare seasonal menus, support winery events, and oversee all aspects of food service at the winery. The Food Lead will manage a team of workers, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and the highest levels of hospitality in all food service operations. Beyond the food itself, the Food Lead values the meaningful connections they create—whether by sharing the story behind a pairing or seeing the joy on a guest’s face as they enjoy a perfectly matched dish. This role isn’t just about preparing food; it’s about crafting experiences that guests will remember long after they leave the winery.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Train, manage, and supervise food service staff to ensure safety and quality.
- Plan, track, and control food costs according to budget.
- Order and receive stock, track and maintain inventory on all food and restaurant supplies.
- Manage and track food waste / loss.
- Prepare food using a variety of equipment, to include wood-fired oven, grill, convection oven, smoker, and frier.
- Appropriately maintain dry stock levels and supplies.
- Pull and prep food.
- Strictly adhere to all food and health safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Work directly with customers by taking orders and processing payments.
- Provide an unparalleled guest experience by adhering to winery training and procedures.
- Support special events, wine dinners, tour groups, rentals, and private wine tastings.
- Operate point of sale machines and credit card terminals accurately and efficiently.
- Ensure that the food service areas are neat, clean, and organized.
- Conduct daily and/or weekly food inventory.
- Create, propose, and maintain accurate menus and specials.
- Adhere to portion control procedures for cost control.
- Report weekly and yearly P&L.
- Perform weekly internal food safety inspection.
- Keep organized recipes and prep notes.
- Must follow opening and closing procedures, including end of day cleaning.
- Other duties, as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Become ServeSafe certified, and follow all food safety laws, regulations, and company standards.
- Able to operate, if necessary, additional winery equipment as directed by Management.
- Able to work with sharp knives and utensils in a safe and efficient manner.
- Must be able to maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced and stressful environment.
- Must be able to work quickly and reliably, in groups or alone, with or without supervision.
- Must be able to work safely and be safety conscious, follow and enforce all written & verbal SOP’s (Standard Operational Procedures) as well as enforce and adhere to safe practices.
- Must be able to accurately follow instructions and directions.
- Must be able to learn the winery’s scripted tour of the winemaking area.
- Able to build a healthy rapport with coworkers, customers, and vendors.
- Represent the company and brand, professionally, graciously, and enthusiastically.
- Maintain satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
- Understand and effectively communicate the brand’s message.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Required to be 21 years of age or older.
- Required to work weekends and occasional evenings.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Basic knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office Suite are preferred.
PAY STATUS
- Job Type: Full-time – Hourly
- Associates in this position typically work between 37.5 to 40 hours per week depending on the needs of the business.
- This position is not exempt from overtime pay.
- This is a tips-eligible position.
- Pay range: $16 - $18 per hour, plus tips.
